Milliner’s Roundtable Discussion

This workshop has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
I will post rescheduled London Hat Week dates when they are available
and send email to currently scheduled attendees.

Thursday, 16 April 2020, 10:00 -13:00
London Hat Week 2020

Join a free roundtable discussion on topics from favorite tools, best vendors, workroom management ideas, and more. Meet knowledgeable and interesting people from around the world with an interest in millinery. It is a great way to build your hatting community and exchange ideas.

Bring a friend, a co-worker, a sister or a sister-in-law. Last year we had all of those people along with the founder of The Hat Magazine and more. Our discussion covered tips and tricks when traveling to teach, getting started in business, and selling hats in London. Every year is different.

This event is suitable for those interested in making, selling and wearing hats.

Milliner’s Roundtable 2016. My pano pic didn’t quite capture everyone.

Full Event Description

An informal discussion moderated by Leanne Fredrick from Hattin’ Around. This event is about building community and learning from each other, as hatting & millinery can be isolating. This will be the fifth year that milliners from around the world join together to talk about important millinery and hat related topics. Enjoy a variety of views and information. This event starts off with introductions and everyone offering their own ideas of what they would like to talk or hear about. Every year is different.

Bring your questions and business cards to exchange with each other.

Your moderator, Leanne is a California born, London milliner, blogger, and inventor of the durable Hattin’ Around Hat Case. She is active in the London millinery community, hosts the annual Milliner’s Round Table discussion as well as teaches workshops privately, annually at London Hat Week, and internationally. She is the Europe Manager for online international millinery supply company, B Unique Millinery.

Leanne has worked with and learned from the quintessential couture London milliner, Edwina Ibbotson and master theatrical hatter, Jane Smith. She has enjoyed working on a variety of unusual projects from authentic poupées to guard helmet feathers.

Three hours will be our longest Roundtable discussion yet. Every previous year seems like it is too short. It will be followed by a “no host” (aka bring money to buy your own food & drink) lunch at the nearby Mercato Metropolitano.

The Hotel Elephant – Harper Road is one of London’s art communities.

The Mercato Metropolitano  is a fabulous venue across the street that has loads of small international food stalls, a micro brewery, and big tables. I imagine we will head off to lunch around 13:30. I cannot think of a better way to finish off LHW2020.
